Michael B. Jackson - Director, Marketing and Business Development
As Director of Marketing and Business Development, Michael has responsibility for setting strategic direction for MicroProbes for Life Science, and has been the catalyst behind its corporate development and rebranding programs in 2009. Additionally, in this dynamic role, Michael oversees commercialization of new products, development of global distribution channels, and sales force leadership for a diverse portfolio of implantable Neural Interface Devices.
Michael leverages 15 years of extensive sales and marketing experience in related industries including technology, biopharmaceutical, and medical devices to consistently drive sustainable business growth. Most recently, as Product Manager for Hospital and Managed Care Marketing at Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. (OAPI), Michael served on multiple Global Brand Teams, and infused reimbursement strategy and value propositioning into e-Marketing and contracting programs. Specifically, Michael played an integral role in the acquisition, re-branding, and launch of the company’s first oncology brand, as well as the launch of its first hospital specialty brand and direct sales force.
Throughout his career, Michael has excelled in progressive sales and marketing roles, such as Institutional Product Specialist, District Sales Manager, and National Manager of Sales Training and Development, for innovative technology and healthcare leaders including GlaxoSmithKline and Johnson & Johnson.
Michael, a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, has taught courses in Business and Technology as an Adjunct Professor at Baltimore City Community College, while serving on the Business Administration Advisory Board.
Michael is a graduate of the Merrick School of Business at the University of Baltimore, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems as well as a Master's degree in Business Administration, both with honors. Michael is also a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, where he proudly served as a Petty Officer Electronics Technician.
Claudia M. Tsas - Manager, Quality Assurance
As Manager of Quality Assurance at MicroProbes for Life Science, Claudia is responsible for providing leadership across all departments as it relates to Quality Management Systems, business operations, performance metrics, and process validation. Claudia’s direction provides the framework for discipline and a formal, strategic approach to continual improvement, resulting in a clear competitive advantage.
Among her significant accomplishments since joining MicroProbes for Life Science in 2006, Claudia was the driving force behind cross-functional collaboration in order to achieve ISO 9001:2000 certification from the International Standardization Organization in 2008. Claudia also championed processes for the upgraded ISO 9001:2008 certification, and is currently spearheading efforts to ensure compliance for ISO 13485 certification for medical device manufacturers.
Recently, to evaluate corporate compliance and performance, Claudia commissioned an independent third-party survey, measuring overall customer satisfaction in categories ranging from product quality and service to engineering and design. The result was an impressive final average score of 9.27 on a scale of 0-10.
Claudia brings more than 17 years of experience in business administration and international business management to her position. Most recently, as Manager of Norms and Procedures at the National Customs Service in Bolivia, Claudia improved overall agency efficiency by directing the development and implementation of more than 20 standard operating procedures in the areas of international business and import/export operations.
A native of Bolivia, Claudia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Engineering at Univalle University and a Master’s Degree in International Business at NUN University. Additionally, Claudia earned a Diploma in International Negotiation at the University of Santiago de Chile.
Carlos "Tonhy" Rocha - Manager, Professional Services
As Manager of Professional Services at MicroProbes for Life Science, Tonhy is responsible for overseeing the management of integral business functions within the organization, including finance systems, corporate resource planning, vendor relations, and customer support.
In addition, Tonhy serves as a liaison of business resources, managing sales and contractual support to distributors, resellers, and other stakeholders.
Since joining the company in 2006, Tonhy’s primary objective has been to enhance the overall customer experience, by implementing administrative systems and processes that streamline communications and ensure client satisfaction. His evaluation, selection, and integration of efficient back-office systems, coupled with his commitment to establishing trust and credibility, have resulted in a base of unparalleled customer loyalty.
Tonhy has built a successful career in business management that spans over 15 years in a diverse range of roles, including Research Grant Consultant, Administrative Manager, and Project Manager. Most recently, prior to joining MicroProbes for Life Science, Tohny worked at the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs, where he coordinated innovative research in alternative energy sources such as ethanol and wind milling.
A native of Bolivia, Tonhy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with a concentration in Project Management at the University of Mayor de San Andres in La Paz. Additionally, Tonhy earned a Diploma in Management and Evaluation of Investment Projects at the University of Santiago de Chile.
Brian Bak - Manager, Product Development
As Manager of Product Development at MicroProbes for Life Science, Brian is responsible for managing the development of new products and line extensions, as well as streamlining fabrication protocols for mature product lines. In addition, Brian collaborates extensively with the R&D and Marketing departments to align manufacturing goals and timelines with commercialization schedules and corporate strategy.
Since joining MicroProbes for Life Science in 2006, Brian has consistently utilized his expertise in conceptualizing new ideas to provide top-tier support directly to the company’s diverse customer base. From pharmaceutical investigators to academic researchers, Brian’s knowledge has proven to be invaluable in developing new design concepts and realizing customers’ application needs.
Although his contributions have positively impacted each product line, Brian dedicates most of his attention to the rapidly expanding Floating Microelectrode Array (FMA) and Linear Microelectrode Array (LMA) product categories. Specifically, Brian has regularly leveraged his expertise to establish GMP standards for key customers as part of pre-clinical studies that utilize FMA technology.
Prior to MicroProbes for Life Science, Brian worked at National Institutes of Health, where he provided a broad range of technical and application support services.
Brian received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, and is also a certified auditor for ISO 9001:2000 quality management system standards.
Thang Le - Production Manager
As Production Manager at MicroProbes for Life Science, Thang is responsible for executing strategies to optimize manufacturing effectiveness of the Micro Wire Array (MWA) and Micro electrode Array (MEA) product categories. In addition, Thang provides leadership to a diverse team of fabrication specialists, capable of delivering customized products using traditional and emerging technologies.
Since joining MicroProbes for Life Science in 2004, Thang has contributed directly to the growth of the company’s production capabilities. Specifically, Thang has directed the implementation of a comprehensive inventory management system designed to clearly define requirements and improve operational efficiency.
As a result of Thang’s dedicated and innovative efforts, his production department has been fully prepared to accommodate and satisfy all demands for increased capacity to date, both scheduled and unplanned.
Prior to joining MicroProbes for Life Science, Thang incorporated many of the same strengths as he established a very successful career in IT management. Specifically, as a consultant, Thang oversaw the implementation of a wide range of hardware diagnostics and networking solutions.
Thang earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Science at the University of Maryland, and is currently pursuing a secondary degree in Biology at George Mason University.
