FMA Pricing
The pricing for the FMAs are based on two criteria; the number of electrodes and the selected metal electrode core conductors. All
FMAs come with Omentics A8141-001 type connectors.
When ordering please provide a copy of the “FMA Layout Designations and Specifications” sheet completed with the desired
impedance values for each electrode and electrode lengths. Also, you must specify a cable length as well. Please allow about 15%
additional length necessary for providing a slight “kink” in the cable for strain relief. Most users will want all the electrodes to be the
same impedance (typically 0.5 to 1.0 megohm for recording) except for the reference (typically 25K) and ground (or common)
electrode. For lengths less than 2 mm, it is recommended to have the reference and ground electrode to be 2.5 mm long to act as
anchoring pins in order to stabilize the array after it has been implanted. Naturally occurring adhesions will begin to form over the
array within the first few hours completely securing the array after about 24 to 36 hours.
The FMA part numbers specify:
- Metal type - PI for platinum iridium 70%30% and IR for pure iridium
- Number of electrodes - N
- Electrode length - L in mm
- Impedance values - X.X in megohms
- Reference electrode - R for a reference, 0 for no reference electrode (10k unless specified)
- Ground electrode - G for a ground, 0 for no ground electrode (bare electrode unless specified)
- Cable length -Cmm
*ground and reference wires maybe specified to extend out from connector instead of incorporated in the array
| Example: FMA-PI-16-2.5-0.5-R-G-5 a FMA with 16 platinum/iridium microelectrodes, 2.5 mm long electrodes, impedance is 0.5 megohm except for the reference and ground electrodes, which will be included in the array, and a 5 mm long cable.

Iridium oxide activation of individual iridium electrodes is available for an additional fee of $12.00 per electrode. A table will be
provided with the activated electrodes showing the pre- and post-activation impedance values.
Custom array geometries, electrode spacing, and number of electrodes may be specified. There will be a non-recurring
engineering (NRE) cost of $5,800 to $8,300 (typical) for new substrates, plus the cost for individual arrays. Please allow an
additional 6 to 8 weeks time to have the custom ceramic substrates designed and fabricated.
